The Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra Robot Vacuum and Mop has the kind of bells and whistles that make a robotic cleaning machine truly exceptional. It comes with a ton of advanced features that’ll transform chores that used to be exhausting into ones that are virtually hands-free.
We live in extraordinary times full of technical marvels that would have been unimaginable a few short years ago. For example, there are high-tech robotic lawn mowers that cut your grass and automated window washers that get your glass sparkling clean while you sit back and relax.
One of the most astonishing evolutionary leaps in the last ten years has been the rise of robotic mops and vacuum cleaners. Or, in the case of the Roborock S7, hybrids that combine the two into one glorious whole.
Roborock has only existed for a few years. However, it has already garnered a well-deserved reputation for engineering quality products that make people’s harried and hectic lives a bit easier. In fact, their labor-saving devices are so well made that they can hold their own against the machines more well-known brands manufacture.
Early hybrid vacuum and mopping bots were mediocre at best. In the intervening years, robotic cleaning machine technology has progressed light years beyond these primitive beginnings, and the pinnacle of that extraordinary evolution is the S7 MaxV Ultra.
A few years ago, the self-emptying robotic vacuum cleaner made its first appearance on the technological stage. The S7 MaxV Ultra takes all that functionality and levels it up. When you invest in this device, you’ll experience the exquisite freedom of outsourcing all your mopping and vacuuming to an autonomous droid.
Who’s the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra For?
The S7 MaxV Ultra is a dream come true for everybody who despises cleaning the old-fashioned way and desperately craves a high-tech way to take care of housework. It’s perfect for dog owners whose furry companions shed tons of hair. This floor-cleaning bot is able to make quick work of all the fuzz that seems to fall off our canine friends by the bucketloads.
This machine is for everybody who’s sick and tired of robotic cleaners that can’t navigate their way out of a paper bag. It’s adept at wiggling out of tight spaces, steering clear of power cords and dangling curtains, and hardly ever gets hung up on dog toys. It can even climb over rugs too tall or shaggy for lesser machines.
If you live on the edge of a desert, the S7 MaxV Ultra can suck up all the sand you invariably bring in every time you walk into your house. It’s fantastic if you have hard flooring and carpet in your residence and want a machine capable of handling both. It’ll not only suck up dust, dirt, and debris on your carpets, but it can also simultaneously mop your hardwood and tile floors.

Pros
Fully Autonomous Operation
If one of the things you’re looking for in a robotic cleaning machine is for it to be as hands-free as possible, you’ll love the S7 MaxV Ultra. It brings the Jetsons’ dream of Rosie the Robot Maid one step closer. It can empty its dustbin after vacuuming, wash its own pad after mopping. clean itself, and refill its water tank when it runs out.
Picture this: it’s the start of a cleaning cycle. Your bot confidently rolls off the dock, flips around, and backs out to get your floors spic and span. When it finishes cleaning, it backs in so that it can empty the dirty water tank and clean its mop pad. Then, your mechanical helper automatically connects to the dock to recharge itself and empty the dustbin. All this action takes place without you needing to touch the device.
Unlike many other robotic cleaning machines, you don’t need to do any prep before deploying your bot. This means your days of picking up dog toys, ensuring there are no dangling cables, and filling the water tank every two seconds are over. In fact, you might not even need to touch the robot for weeks on end!
With most other robotic mops, you need to manually fill the water tank on the unit. This isn’t the case with the S7 MaxV Ultra. It automatically fills the onboard water tank from a bigger reservoir in the docking station. This cuts down the time you’ll need to spend ensuring this device operates as it should.
However, the app will promptly alert you when the primary tank is empty and needs to be refilled. Once you add water to the primary reservoir, the device will automatically fill the auxiliary tanks whenever required.
Customizable Settings
All the settings are fully customizable, so you can adjust things like suction power with vacuuming and vibration speed with mopping. That way, you always have the perfect settings for the job you need to do.
You can schedule different cleaning frequencies and times for every room in your residence or set a separate mopping and vacuuming intensity for each room. That way, you’ll be able to give rooms with a lot of traffic a more thorough going over. At the same time, you won’t waste power on areas that only see occasional use.
You can customize what type of cleaning you want to be done in each room. That way, if you want the bot to vacuum in one room but do both mopping and vacuuming in another, you can.
When you want to control the S7 MaxV Ultra, you can choose to do so using the unit’s app or buttons or via voice.
Simultaneous Mopping and Vacuuming
Most two-in-one robotic cleaning machines have a big problem: they don’t simultaneously mop and vacuum. You must vacuum first, then manually stick on a mop pad and rerun the unit.
The S7 MaxV Ultra doesn’t have this problem. This consummate multitasker can mop and vacuum during the same cleaning cycle.
Cutting-Edge Artificial Intelligence
Some robotic cleaning machines that are supposed to be smart are actually pretty dumb. They mindlessly bump into walls, plow through messy dog doo-doo and take the scenic route instead of a shorter and more efficient one.
That isn’t the case with the S7 MaxV Ultra. It uses a combination of an RGB camera, precision LiDAR, and a neural processing unit to deftly navigate your space. The LiDAR creates a detailed map of every level of your home so you can set up virtual no-go zones. A 3D structured light system supplements the setup for even more robust navigational abilities.
All this impressive technology makes the S7’s obstacle recognition better than almost any other robotic cleaning machine on the planet. Because the system is so technologically advanced, it does a much better job sidestepping obstructions than most other robotic cleaners. Watch it approach a hurdle like a dog toy or LEGO, give the object a once over, and then carefully make its way around it.
This bot is so intelligent it’s able to recommend the best cleaning patterns and scrub intensity for every room in your home. Amazingly, the bot has the ability to react differently depending on what obstacles it sees. For example, it gives pet waste a wide berth. That way, it doesn’t run over it and make a messy situation even messier.
Blessedly Free from Technological Quirks
Some robotic mop and vacuum hybrids have a weird problem: they think that area rugs with black accents are cliffs. This intriguing yet annoying quirk in their visual sensing system makes them freak out and back away because they’re afraid they’re in danger of tumbling down a dark and treacherous drop-off.
The S7 MaxV Ultra doesn’t suffer from this strange technological oddity and will tackle your area rugs and their black borders with no problems. Let’s say it encounters a situation where it could actually fall (such as the edge of your stairs). In that case, six cliff sensors prevent it from taking a nasty fall.
Exceptional Mapping Capabilities
You’ll be impressed with how intelligently the unit maps out and charts a course to cover every square inch of your floors. In fact, Roborock’s mapping capabilities are among the best in the entire industry. The bot doesn’t waste any time getting to know your home because it automatically maps your floors during its maiden voyage. You can also choose a quick mapping option so that it maps your space without cleaning.
The bot creates startlingly accurate 2D and 3D maps you can use to tell the bot where it needs to clean next. You can pan around them in the app, just like you can do with Google Maps.
You can even see a live view of the machine on the map while it’s cleaning! Features such as the ability to establish no-go zones, invisible walls, and no-mop zones ensure your bot doesn’t go where you don’t want it to. The map saving feature allows you to name individual rooms on the map so you can set up room-specific cleaning schedules.
You can save up to four maps for different levels of your home. However, if you want to clean more than one floor of your residence, you’ll need a separate dock for every level.
As I already mentioned, the bot has a better-than-average ability to recognize common household hazards in your residence, including furniture. Once it does, it digitizes the obstacle and adds it to the virtual map so it can remember it on future cleaning excursions. If you want to clean a particular area rather than an entire floor, simply tap the area (such as around your bed) on the virtual map.
Superior Power
The S7 MaxV Ultra has more than enough power for mopping and vacuuming. It generates 5100 pascals of suction, making it more powerful than any previous Roborock vacuum. It boosts suction when it detects carpet, allowing it to deliver a deeper clean.
It will efficiently suck up debris such as pet hair from your rugs and hard floors lesser machines struggle with. When it comes to mopping, this unit uses sonic vibration technology to vibrate the mop heads up to 3000 cycles per minute. This helps to eradicate stubborn stains most other robot mops leave behind.
Automatic Mop Lifting
Most two-in-one robots with carpet sensors automatically avoid carpeted areas so they don’t get wet. On the other hand, the S7 MaxV Ultra raises the mopping plate approximately 5mm when it detects carpet.
This not only prevents a dirty mop head from getting dragged across carpets, which could stain your expensive rugs—it also keeps the machine from veering too much out of its way to avoid the rugs. By doing this, your bot protects your carpets while maintaining optimal cleaning efficiency.
Doubles as a Security System
The S7 MaxV Ultra can function as a wandering security camera, letting you remotely monitor your residence from your phone. There’s also two-way audio, a feature you can use to talk to pets or people in your home. That way, you can check on Fido and speak to him if he’s doing something he’s not supposed to.
If you don’t like the idea of being spied on by your robotic cleaning machine, you’ll be happy to know you need to activate remote viewing to use this feature. There’s no recording—it’s live streaming only. There are safeguards in place to protect privacy, such as the unit announcing that remote viewing is enabled as it moves from place to place.
Other Features
- Some robotic vacuum cleaners always keep their brushes the same distance from the floor. However, the innovative minds over at Roborock added something ingenious: a multi-plane brush. This keeps the brush close to the floor, even on uneven surfaces, resulting in a better clean.
- For ultimate control over your floor-cleaning bot, use the power of your voice. You can start a cleaning cycle, change settings, and more by using Google Home, Amazon Alexa, or Siri Shortcuts.
- If you ever had a Roomba and thought that the whirring sound it makes was grating, you’ll be impressed by how quiet the S7 MaxV Ultra is. You can easily watch your favorite Netflix show in the same room when it’s doing its thing.
- You can activate the child lock mode by pressing and holding the spot cleaning buttons on the unit. This stops the bot from responding to button presses. You can also enable the child lock from the app.
- The bot doesn’t fully charge itself during peak energy hours. However, the battery will still have enough juice to get your cleaning done. Over time, this can add up to significant savings.
- The unit has a remote-control feature if you ever want to take the wheel of your bot and do a little spot cleaning.
- The low-profile LiDAR sensor sticking out from the robot is 3.8 inches tall, which is still small enough to get under most furniture. Even though it’s 14 inches wide, it’s agile enough to move around your home without too much of a problem. It’s even able to navigate the door casings between rooms, knowing enough to raise its mop, so it doesn’t get stuck.
Cons
Some users wish there was an indicator on the device letting you know when the dustbin is full. As it stands, there’s no way to tell short of squishing it to feel how much debris is in there.
A reusable dustbin instead of throwaway bags would be more cost-effective and better for the environment. The S7 MaxV Ultra sometimes thinks shadows are objects—particularly when cleaning under furniture. Conversely, it sometimes runs over black cords, thinking they’re shadows.
This bot returns to the dock when the battery level hits 20%. Because this is still plenty of juice for cleaning, it should probably only return when the power is lower—say, 5% or so. This would make cleaning a bit more efficient.
I wholeheartedly recommend the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra because it has many features that make it one of the best robot mop and vacuum hybrids on the market.
Treat yourself by investing in this superb two-in-one cleaning machine that significantly reduces the number of household chores you’ll need to do. Wouldn’t it be nice to come home from work to a freshly mopped and vacuumed home? With the S7 MaxV Ultra tirelessly cleaning your house while you’re at the office, that can be your reality!
